Sheila has been practicing law at Kopp McKichan, LLP since 1989. She graduated with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law and began her career in Platteville, where she first assisted in personal injury cases.
Later, Sheila did criminal and juvenile defense work, and she wrote many appeals in a variety of forums, including the U.S. Supreme Court. Her current practice includes elder law, guardian ad litem, estate planning, real estate, civil litigation, and appellate work. In her role as a guardian ad litem, Sheila represents minor children, vulnerable adults, unborn children and the elderly.
Sheila is married to Mark, a software engineer and they have four children and two grandchildren. Outside the office, Sheila is involved in the community in volunteering for her children's activities and serving as the Chair of the PHS Scholarship Fund Board.
She has presented to a variety of community and professional groups on numerous legal topics. She has been a member of the Grant County Interdisciplinary Team to combat Elder abuse since its inception.
